Preparations for the wedding are now underway :) This week we have set the date, and booked the church and also the venue for the reception. We are getting married at a Sanctuary, and we are holding the reception in a ballroom at a hotel.

I have been visiting websites to get ideas, and also went to a couple of bridal shops to try on dresses. I must say, that I have found what I think is ‘the dress’ in the first shop I visited. I am trying on other dresses in other shops, but I never get the feeling I get when I tried on the other dress, so I am confirming that maybe I should go back to that shop and leave a deposit :)

I’m off to do some more wedding-related research!

Adopt a book

posted by kry in books, campaigns

Did you know that you could adopt a book? I never heard of this concept, until recently. This scheme I have heard about is offered by the British Library.

The British Library’s Adopt a Book scheme is the ideal way to give a family member, friend or corporate client a unique gift, while helping to protect the world’s greatest book collection for future generations.

If you would like to  learn more about this concept, have a look at the detailed information on the British Library Adopt a Book section.

…to the man I have shared my life with for the past 7.5 years :) And this is what made my New Year so special, and surely  one I will never forget!

It was supposed to be a normal evening. We had nothing planned for New Year’s Eve, except that obviously we were going to spend it together, watching a movie, and staying up until the midnight countdown.

Late in the afternoon on New Year’s Eve, we watched our favourite movie - Notting Hill. We have seen this movie so many times! But we never get fed up watching it. By the time the movie ended, I was tired and wanted to go to sleep. He didn’t want me to, but I slept for a while anyway. At around 11.30, he woke me up, telling me that it was soon time for the countdown. At first I was reluctant to wake up, but in the end I just woke up, and watched the countdown on TV. We  had a bottle of spumante, which we opened to celebrate the New Year. After finishing my glass, he looked at me and told me whether I had seen what was in the glass. To my surprise, I had completely missed seeing a ring in my glass, and nearly swallowed it without me realising (and no, I was not drunk!) !!!!! :D

After giving me the ring, he gave me another wrapped gift. This time, it was two cakes, which are my favourite ones - a chocolate one and a fruit one :) The story behind this goes back around 2.5 years ago. Once he came to see me after his work, and told me that he had bought some cakes with his friend. I was angry at him since he didn’t buy me any (and I love chocolates and cakes:) ), so he said that one day he would buy me cakes again after work. That day never came, until 2.5 years later :)

He then gave me another wrapped gift - this time it was a Bryan Adams cd, with his greatest hits! The story behind the cd goes back to our second or third date, over 7.5 years ago! Back then, when we were chatting about our music tastes, I had mentioned that I liked Bryan Adams’ music, and he had promised me that he would give me his cd, since he had it. From that day onwards, I kept asking for that cd, but he never gave it to me, saying that he can’t find it. The truth was that he always meant to give me that cd on that special day!

The story behind all these gifts is that he showed me that whenever he promises me something, he always keeps his promise, even many years later :) After all this, he read me a poem, where he asked me to be his wife, to which I obviously replied yes :)

I still can’t believe I am getting married at times, and I keep looking at my finger all the time, to remind me of that special moment we shared together :) It was such a great way to start the New Year - I will never forget it!  From that moment on, a new chapter in my life just started :)

This year promises to bring with it exciting and special moments. I look forward to spend the rest of my life with the special man in my life, with whom I have shared my life for the past 7.5 years, and with whom I look forward to share the rest of my life…for many years to come!

We haven’t decided a date yet, but it will probably be some time between the end of this year and early next year. This means that today could be my last birthday as single! By my next birthday I could be married :)

Fill your life with happiness and bright cheer

Bring to you joy and prosperity for the whole year

And it’s my New Year wish for you

Wish you all a very happy New Year dear friends!!

Where has the year gone?! It seems like the year went by so fast!

Some nice occasions were celebrated, including my graduation and my parents’ 25th Wedding Anniversary. Then we had sad moments as well….especially at Christmas time.

But then I had the best New Year’s Eve/midnight countdown ever..will post about it later ;)

Yesterday evening, after work, I decided to go to do some more Christmas shopping, and there were actually carols on in the street :) So there are places where this is still going on then…

Christmas Carols

posted by kry in Uncategorized

Yesterday evening, during dinner, we were discussing how Christmas has not been the same in recent years, as it was when we were younger. It seems there is no Christmas spirit any more..or at least that’s how I am feeling this year. When we were younger, Christmas time was much more exciting and we would be looking forward to Christmas from a month before!

At one point, I recounted how in previous years, you would hear Christmas carols being played in streets. However, this year I haven’t heard any. It could be that I haven’t been out much because of work. However, whilst catching up with blogs this morning, I read the same thing on Wen’s blog! It’s not only me then..I used to like listening to the carols whilst shopping or when going for a walk in the evening.
