Noise rant

posted by kry in everyday life, university

So as I already mentioned, we are in the process of moving house. As tomorrow they will be taking the furniture out of the house, and at the moment everyone is busy with packing and taking things to the new home, I decided to come to our flat which we use during summer, to be able to study in some quiet since I’m in the middle of my uni finals. Yesterday I packed everything and came here. The rest of the family will join me tomorrow, since we’ll be staying here until we finish our new home.

Well..guess what?!?! This is supposed to be a quiet area - only one person lives in our block of flats all year round, the area is not all built up, and people start coming to live here around mid-June, since most just have flats which they use as summer residence. I was mistaken if I thought that I would be coming here to have some quiet and study properly! They’ve been digging since 7am this morning, a couple of meters away. The table and laptop are shaking and I can feel the floor shaking as well. And I thought that I was going to be studying in peace!!! I was truly mistaken…

Oh no, I’m sorry to hear about the digging! How fustrating.
I hope they finish digging very soon?

They start at 7am and stop around mid-afternoon. From what I can see, they have just started digging to build a new block of apartments..looks like it’s going to be a long noisy summer! I wouldn’t mind so much if I didn’t have to study..will have to adapt to the noise..
