Have you ever used phone cards to call abroad? I used to use telecards a couple of years ago. I remember one of my hobbies at the time, apart from collecting stamps and coins, amongst many other things, was collecting phone cards! ![]()
I remember I used to collect phone cards from various countries, so every time my parents or someone I knew went abroad, they used to bring back used international phone cards with them for me to add to my collection. Even here in Malta, years ago, before everyone bought mobile phones we used to use telecards to call with from telephone boxes if we were not at home, and I used to collect those as well.
Nowadays, since nearly everyone owns a mobile phone, I don’t think that telephone boxes are used so much. In fact I’ve seen them being taken off from certain places, where they have not been used for years. The last time I used a telecard was ages ago, before I had my first mobile phone, around 7 years ago!
Now that I think of it, when I was packing my stuff, I didn’t come across the folder where I used to keep my telecard collection. I need to look for them ‘cause I can’t remember where I’ve put them!
Did you use to collect anything when you were younger? I used to always find new things to collect – stamps, coins, telecards, leaflets, pictures, postcards - you name it..i used to collect it!
Maybe that’s why it’s taking me such a long time to pack all my stuff in boxes!

I remember the phone cards!
Does sound like you liked to collect things, but I think it’s nice to have memorabilia’s.
I used to collect rubbers, key rings, Walt Disney mugs and frogs. Not real frogs I hasten to add!
These days I have a photo album full of places I’ve been to, and other memorabilia’s such as serviettes, cards, leaflet. Etc etc!
I still collect loads of things..I like to keep memorabilia
Storage space is the only problem !
