Earlier this week I have started packing my books. I have created a list with the title of the book, together with the type and ISBN number. I had to go through all my books, input the data in the list and then pack them in boxes. Whilst going through the books, I re-discovered the books I had when I was much younger :) Some of the books I had read them over and over again, such as the Enid Blyton Books. One of the many Enid Blyton books I came across is ‘The Naughtiest Girl is a monitor’. Has anyone read it? If I remember correctly (since it’s been a very long time since I last read it!) it was about life at a boarding school. I remember that at the time I wanted to go to boarding school like the main character as well:) Thinking about it, are boarding schools still popular? I had a look on the internet and found some boarding schools for teens, but I’m not so sure that they are still common nowadays.

I used to love reading Enid Blyton books! I’m not familiar with that title but I remember the Malory Towers collection, which were centred around a boarding school. Whilst reading them I used to imagine myself attending Malory Towers, as it sounded as if they had far more fun than I did at my school!

Even myself I used to really want to go to boarding school because they seemed to have so much fun! :) Enid Blyton books were my favourites and now that I am sorting out my books I feel like I miss those years when I used to read such books :)

I spent 10 years in a posh boarding school in Weybridge, England. Of the hundreds of people I know who went to many different boarding schools, I can’t think of a single one who would be anything but amazed at the thought of someone wanting to go to a boarding school voluntarily !!!

If you went to a regular school, you would still see your friends in the evenings AND, you would be able to see friends of the opposite sex too.

    In boarding school….

    — want a sandwich? Tough s**t. Wait till the next meal.
    — didn’t do anything wrong? Too bad. Group punishment.
    — want to watch your favourite show? Argue with fifty other people.
    — feeling bored? Watch TV. And watch TV. And don’t forget to watch even more TV. Oh yeah. The snooker table with missing balls.
    — want to go outside the school for a walk? No chance except for four hours on a weekend only.
    — find some people annoying? You’re with them every minute of every day for months. No escape.
    — want some peace and quiet? Fifty stereos playing simultaneously.
    — …not to mention sleeping in a giant bedroom full of multitudes of snoring, f**rting, sleep-talking, sleep-walking people, some of whom make life hell by stealing.

Boarding school, fun? I don’t think so!

From the way you’ve described it, you’re right..boarding school is surely no fun! In some books, it might be pictured very differently! I wouldn’t want to go to boarding school and live my childhood like that either..
