Brighton is set to become the first city in Britain to ban stores from giving out plastic bags to their customers. This initiative is being put forward to encourage the use of eco-friendly reusable bags; thus safeguarding the environment.

According to this article, annually, an estimated 17.5 billion plastics bags are given away nationally by supermarkets in the UK - enough to cover the combined area of London, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle and West Yorkshire.

It’s always good to see initiatives to safeguard the environment. I always try to re-use bags as much as possible thus giving my part towards protecting the environment. Every little bit counts!
