Library card expired?!
posted by kry in universityThis morning I went to the library at University and started looking for some books related to my dissertation. Once I found a couple of books which were related to my idea, I went downstairs so that I could take them home, only to be told that my student card (which is also the card they use at the library) has expired last July so I cannot take out any books!!! I was really disappointed as I needed the books to start doing some research before submitting my proposal for the dissertation next week. At least the person at the desk was really helpful and has kept the books for me so that I can pick them up when they renew my card. I cannot understand how they can take this long just to renew a student card! What if I needed to work on my dissertation during the summer?! I’m hoping it won’t take much longer as I really need those books!

I never knew it expired! We never received a card in our first year - we had to go to the office and get one! Our Faculty can get on your nerves! At least the library stuff are friendly!
They said that since our course is sort of divided in 2 (the first part is the first 3 years, after which time one can quit, and then the second part is the 4th year - for those who decide to do the Hons.), the student card has to be renewed after the first 3 years. What I cannot understand is how come it is taking this long just to renew a card. I’ve been going to the library nearly every day to check whether it has been renewed for nothing. Can never win with them, can you?
