Fake Degrees
posted by kry in controversyI was reading this interesting post about fake degrees.
What I wonder is….do these fake degrees work? Doesn’t an employer realise that the degree certificate is fake? At the end of the day, if the person is chosen, could it be that at one point in time, his/her employer and colleagues realise that s/he hasn’t really attended University? If the particular position requires a certain degree of knowledge, how can you show that knowledge which you “supposedly” have learned at University?
What do you think? Do they really work?

I don’t think they really work - as you said you have to have some kind of knowledge before undertaking a job - although having said that university doesn’t always provide the training you need.
Personally I don’t think it’s worth the risk to get a fake degree - there’s no satisfaction and i’m sure they’ll be a lot of trouble once caught
Exactly..that’s what I believe as well!
To be honest I believe that someone with some experience could get away with it because he will know the stuff that someone learns at university. In some cases that person might even know more. Personally I don t believe in qualifications - the employer must manage to get to know the candidates’ knowledge at the interview.
I agree with you; I believe that one should show what s/he knows by convincing the employer of his/her strengths and experience and not by providing a fake degree. If one has the knowledge, expertise and experience, why would s/he need to provide a fake qualification?
Noone has ever asked for my degree certificate, or any other qualification. I could probably get away with it if I wanted to, though I wouldn’t - guilt and nerves would get in the way!
It truly depends on the organisation you are working with/for. I’ve been asked a couple of times for my degree certificate and others just aren’t interested.
I’m sure the cracks will show though when you turn out ‘not quite right’ after a few weeks.
