On the issue of environment sustainability, I just found out that last Summer in London (Hyde Park), they launched a Solar Shuttle, designed by Christoph Behling.
Carrying 42 passengers across the Serpentine Lake, the boat is as beautiful as it is ecologically sustainable. Entirely pollution-free and silent running, the SolarShuttle eliminates the production of 2.5 tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year compared to a similar sized diesel boat. It is the first and only engine powered vessel that has been allowed to ferry people across the historic and ecologically fragile Serpentine.Able to run itself in all daylight conditions, the SolarShuttle has reserve power for night-time running and even generates surplus energy that can be fed back into the national grid.
A couple of weeks ago, it won a national award for innovation and design.
