This weekend I managed to watch 4 movies - the last part of Happy Feet and Angli the Movie (which I had started watching last week), and also The Illusionist and A Good Year.
Happy Feet is an animation/adventure film and it is based in Antarctica, in the land of penguins. Here, penguins express their love through singing. However, due to an accident, a baby penguin is born without this talent of singing, but is very good at tap-dancing. Because of this, other penguins laugh at him and he is basically the odd one out. In the meantime, in the land of penguins there is a problem since fish is getting scarce. Together with some friends he makes at one point in the story, they set off to find the source of the famine (human beings), which they call an ‘alien’ source. His unique talent of tap-dancing helps him to attract attention of human beings, thus saving the world of penguins.
Angli the Movie is a Maltese action film based on the tv series. It is about a drugs scanner being tested at the airport in Malta, which leaves a victim - a man who was trying to smuggle drugs in his stomach. From there, the story unfolds with officers Anglu and Gabriel, with the help of a German agent, trying to protect the details of this system and at the same time being followed by a drug dealer.
The Illusionist is an adaptation of the story ‘Eisenheim the Illusionist’ by Steven Millhauser. It is set in early 1900 in Vienna, where a young magician falls in love with a young lady who is of a higher social class than him. Some years later, they meet again. This time, he is a famous magician, and she is to be married to the prince. However, through illusion, he manages to turn the situation to his favour. A very surprising ending! I wasn’t expecting it.
A Good Year is about a successful investor based in London, who inherits his uncle’s vineyard and chateau in Provence, the place where he spent a memorable childhood during vacations. He goes back to Provence to sell the property, but he ends up staying there for good.
