At the moment here in Ghadira something is happenning:) At around 9am this morning, I heard a helicopter and went out in our balcony to see what’s happening, although helicopters going round the bay is quite normal at this time of year. There was a yacht at sea and the helicopter was going round it. So I fetched the binoculars to see what’s happening and I could see that on the yacht there were some people and the helicopter was not of the armed forces or the police.
Curious as we Maltese are, someone went out with his speedboat to see what’s happening:) But I think someone from the helicopter signalled them to go back as when they were half way through I saw the speedboat returning.
I think that they were filming as the helicopter was going round the yacht all the time. So to satisfy my curiosity I searched on the internet and found the Malta Film Commission website. On the news section, dated 17/07/05 there is written:
A German independent feature film ‘Godspeed’ scheduled for release in all German territories next year, started filming in Malta on Wednesday 12 July 2005. The screenplay is a thriller based on the tragic true story of a group of friends that end-up stranded in the open sea whilst on a sailing trip in Central America.
The filming which is scheduled to last 35 days will be conducted at the Mediterranean Film Studios and on several other locations around the islands. Malta is doubling for a Central American country. The film is directed by Hans Horn and features Niklaus Lange, Sara May Pratt and Cameron Richardson.

When I took Carlo to the airport last Monday he forgot his digital camera in my car so I took some photos. Could it be that this episode this morning is part of the filming of this German film?? I cannot be sure of course - it could have nothing to do with a film but I took some photos anyway:)

As far as I know, they should always inform the public the day before if they will be using such a public place.
