Since I will be on my own all winter I decided to take up a challenge and do something. Not that I don’t have anything to do with University and all the work it entails, far from it:) But it will be interesting to have something else to do just because you choose to do it. That’s when I thought of doing another A’Level. Crazy, am I? After finishing my A’Levels last year, here I am thinking of starting to study another subject at Advanced Level again!! But I think it will be different this time since I will study a subject just because I want to, at my own pace and with no pressures from lecturers. In addition, I will have another Advanced Level if I pass:)

The dilemma is whether to study English or Sociology. I think I will opt for Sociology. I had the subject this year as part of my B.Commerce course, along with Psychology and I also chose both subjects as extra credits. I had never studied Sociology and Psychology before and I must say that I quite enjoyed studying them (especially the extra credits which were Social Psychology and Psychology of Personality) as they are quite interesting. During the year I didn’t quite like them but at the end, when I was studying for my exams, I realised how interesting they could be if you look at them from a different perspective.

These are the topics covered in the Advanced Level syllabus, which I covered during my lectures at University but not in much detail - education, the family, mass media, religion, work, crime and deviance, poverty and welfare, race, ethnicity and migration, social change, stratification and theories, perspectives and methods of research of Sociology.

I will try to decide about this by the end of Summer:)
